Information and Directions:
Wat Huay Mongkol(วัดห้วยมงคล) is dedicated to the revered Thai Buddhist monk Luang Phor Thuad. A life like statue of him dominates the area surrounding the entrance to the Wat, but there are several other notable features in the surrounding grounds. These include a beautifully crafted Sala Thai, a small elephant sanctuary where you may ride on an Asian elephant, a well stocked lake and if you visit around January fields of beautiful sunflowers. There are also plenty of places for refreshments.
Wat Huay Mongkol is very popular with both Thai and foreign tourists therefore at times it can be extremely busy-a mid week visit is recommended. Located about 15 miles West of Hua Hin in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province the Wat is well signposted in both Thai and English and is reached from Highway 4 along route 3218.
There is no entrance fee.

Opinion:
Quite a touristy feel to this Wat, busy at weekends but worth a visit if you have half a day to spare. Lots of photographic opportunities. Wat Huay Mongkol would also make and ideal stopping point if you were heading for the Southern entrance to Kaeng Krachan Kational Park from the South of Thailand.
