Information and Directions:
Wat Nong Hin Pracharam(วัดหนองหินประชาราม) is my local village temple here in Thailand. It is a typical example of a “common” Wat founded by the local village people. It has a small ubosoth which for security reasons is kept locked except during religious festivals. The “bai sima” stones, there are eight of them, are clearly visible since they have markers placed above them. Interestingly when the location is viewed in Google Earth you can also see the location of the stones.
A wooden wihan, centrally located in the compound is where most religious activities take place. There are several other wihan located in the temple grounds. The Kuti for the monks is a wooden block housing individual rooms. There is also a crematorium at the rear of the temple compound. Wat Nong Hin Pracharam lacks the ornate structures and art work found in some of its larger neighbours like Wat Khlong Wan and Wat Ko Lak in Prachuap.
The Abbott and a couple of the monks speak a little English and are very friendly.
Wat Nong Hin Pracharam is located about 500m from Highway 4. No entrance fees are charged and there is plenty of parking in the grounds of the temple.

Opinion:
If you want to see a typical Thai rural temple then Wat Nong Hin Pracharam is a good example. Although it lacks some of the finer architectural and artistic points of other temples in the area, it has a real local feel and many of the monks are young men from the surrounding area serving a short time(merit making) at the Wat.
