Wat Khlong Wan Prachuap Khiri Khan

Information and Directions:

Wat Khlong Wan(วัดคลองวาฬ) is located in the large fishing village of Khlong Wan about 5km from Wat Nong Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan. Although a rural Wat, the temple is extremely well crafted with beautiful art work throughout. The ubosoth is a splendid example of a Thai style Buddhist temple. There are also several wihan houses with a good selection of Buddhist icons. An ornate bell tower can also be found near the front of the temple.

Other buildings located in the compound include a crematorium towards the rear and plenty of accommodation for the large number of monks who live at this Wat. There are several kuti reserved for female occupants(nuns) at the rear of the large compound away from the other temple buildings.

The Wat also has a small sanctuary for birds and there are several peacock in cages not far from where the nuns live. Wat Khlong Wan is about 4km East of Highway 4 and some 8km South of the town of Prachuap Khiri Khan. There are no entrance fees and there is ample parking in the temple grounds.

Opinion:

Wat Khlong Wan is an attractive Wat that is located in a pleasant seaside area. Khlong Wan is a fishing village not far(2km) from the beautiful bay and beach at Ao Manao. There are some excellent eating places that overlook the harbour in the village which would make for a refreshing break after visiting this highly recommended temple. There are also numerous hotels and resorts around the village outskirts.

This sounds like a good wat to visit, Mike.
The site (yours, not the wat compound) is developing well, isn't it? I've only just seen and used the tabs at the top, a very useful addition. Your output is still impressive, too. I hope you are getting lots of visitors.

Lawrence yes it is. The tabs at the top are a new blogger feature "pages." Which allow the creation of non-indexed static pages.

Not many visitors, but the pages are well up in search results.
