Information and Directions:
Wa Thon(สำนักสงฆ์ว้าโทน) is located near Whagor, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand. It is not actually referred to as a Wat but instead a Bureau of Monks, although monks do live there and conduct religious activities. The buildings are made from wood and have been on the site for over 50 years.
There is evidence of a modern ubosoth being built but at the moment it just consists of a concrete frame and steel roof trusses. The only none wooden structure is the belfry that is divided with a bell in the tower and a large drum at ground level.
There is no crematorium and a large Wihan houses a few modest Buddha icons. There are several cages at ground level with a variety of local birds including two very talkative Hill Myna’s.
Wa Thon is about 1 km from Highway 4 and about 3 km from the Waghor Science Park on route 1041. It is also about 5km from Wat Khlong Wan.

Opinion:
My main reason for visiting the site was actually to see a monk who lives there and tells fortunes. He is certainly a colourful character but does not speak English. Since the area is close to Highway 4 and the Science Park at Whagor you might like to call in and see the fortune teller if your Thai language is up to speed.
